I agree that it is unfair, but fairness isn't much of a consideration in politics.Michael Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10362529610470788243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5465015914589377788.post-88708717316701815032009-05-29T22:45:45.103-04:002009-05-29T22:45:45.103-04:00I wonder how the government can agree to make up t...I wonder how the government can agree to make up the pension shortfall for one company (GM--or so I understand) and then not for the rest of the companies.

I think it was either a very bad precedent or very unfair...both bad.Connie Walshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16040034443479045710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5465015914589377788.post-33058732685765065882009-05-28T17:21:35.727-04:002009-05-28T17:21:35.727-04:00Novice: For Nortel pensioners it has become "a bir...Novice: For Nortel pensioners it has become "a bird in the hand is worth 1.5 birds in the bush." However, with time it may become 2, 3, or 4 birds in the bush.

Thicken My Wallet: I agree. I've been hearing about pension plan shortfalls for over a decade now. The money to pay out all the obligations just isn't there. The government would be completely irresponsible to try to make up even half of the shortfall.
