Is it actually useful or is it another case of creative performance reporting? Would annualized returns for those periods be more meaningful for investors?Juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15481250523612923524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5465015914589377788.post-66884644088489182062008-10-02T17:57:00.000-04:002008-10-02T17:57:00.000-04:00Gene: Maybe I'll try next time to use a name that...Gene: Maybe I'll try next time to use a name that doesn't actually exist as a mutual fund. The whipping boy of financial blog examples.
http://www.abcfunds.com/en/

Actually, though, it does seem like ABC has done worse in the recent past than they did in the more distant past - just like your example.

A friend once called a mutual fund company to ask why the performance reported on his statements was so much better than what his portfolio actually did. He told me they explained some BS method of calculating performance. He didn't remember the details of the explanation, but I believe he sold the mutual funds in disgust.genehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05608927986297939720noreply@blogger.com
