I did my research, kept meticulous notes and even started contacting The Toronto Star's Consumer Affairs Columinist before Direct Energy started to move. My situation...Glad to hear the bogus charges ended. My situation is starting to sound eerily similar to yours except I'm dealing with Reliance instead of Direct Energy. The old rental water heater was returned last month with a receipt provided as proof. When the latest Enbridge bill arrived, I checked and it shows a full month's worth of charges - as if we still have their water heater. I suppose one major takeaway lesson from all this is to never allow a third party service to be billed through your utilities.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5465015914589377788.post-56734743865004222182010-07-18T12:41:15.264-04:002010-07-18T12:41:15.264-04:00LET THE ENERGY BOARD KNOW ANYWAY,THEY WILL GET YOU...LET THE ENERGY BOARD KNOW ANYWAY,THEY WILL GET YOUR REFUND APPLIED FASTERAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5465015914589377788.post-57673225653830164452010-06-15T23:24:39.354-04:002010-06-15T23:24:39.354-04:00@Anonymous: That's good to know. For all I know the law requires them to collect hot water heater rental fees. It would be nice if Enbridge offered the option of letting a customer refuse to pay for the non-Enbridge part of a bill. I'm not sure if they are allowed to do this.Michael Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10362529610470788243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5465015914589377788.post-3996065742598560062010-05-10T09:01:53.319-04:002010-05-10T09:01:53.319-04:00Small claims court! Took a few months to get the bill corrected and my money back. There should be something we can do to prevent these guys from billing through Enbridge, it makes it too easy for them and no incentive for them to fix any issues quickly.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02562404443447702221noreply@blogger.com
